Being Honest

Adam suggested this on the train to Glasgow on Friday. I've nicked it and made it into an illustration as it just stayed in my head. Today has been a busy day paperwork wise and I just had to draw something before I started forgetting what it is exactly that I do for a living!

Image Nation Catalogue

For the amazingly cheap price of £9.99 you can get yourself a copy of the exhibition catalogue containing images from 93 Contemporary Scottish Illustrators!

Image Nation Exhibition

Friday night was the preview for the Image Nation Exhibition in Glasgow. My work is amongst the work of 93 other fellow Scottish illustrators and I must say the standard was pretty high. It was great to see what everyone was up to and to catch up with old friends that I hadn't seen for a long time. My thanks to the Collins Gallery and it's staff for providing the opportunity for such a gathering and congratulations to the prizewinners!

Illustration Friday- 'Tea'

Tea has many amazing properties and I could easily believe this one. I often wonder who comes up with these experiments though...

Illustration Friday - 'Song'

I'd give you clues but I'm useless at not giving things away. I'll let people guess first...

My Promotional email...

This is my new promo email to send out to people I think might be interested in my work. I had fun with the different fonts and typefaces and I'm doing a bit of work on learning some new ones at the moment.

100Shirts Competition

I've 'borrowed' these pictures from the 100shirts blog but I'm thinking nobody will mind as its all publicity! Please visit http://www.p-ornithology.com/100/main.htm to see the top 100 designs and note that mine got into the Top Ten in the public vote!

Here is some info about the venue.....

The 100Shirts Exhibition is up and running!
As of yesterday, the 100Shirts Exhibition went live! You are now able to go and visit the exhibition in MICROZINE, on Bold Street in Liverpool City Centre. There has already been considerable interest from other designers and artists who have seen all of your designs up so we think the exhibition will continue to draw the crowds over the next two weeks!

Visit the competition blog for more details-http://artinliverpool.com/100shirts/

Something a little different...

I was just contemplating album covers and how they used to be a showcase for new ideas and art forms. These days so many of them look and feel the same. Anyway, I thought I'd have a go and see if I could come up with something for the Green Day album 'Warning'. It may look a little odd but each image is referencing a track on the CD. The inflatable child is from the Macy's Day Parade- in case you were wondering!

Illustration Friday- 'Simple'

How hard could it be to get a parcel from A to B? I won a lovely pair of shoes on eBay before Christmas, paid and waited patiently for them to arrive. I even took into account the dreaded 'Christmas Post'. Today I finally gave up on ever seeing them. My bank won't get me my money back, Paypal say there is nothing they can do and eBay say nothing at all. Royal Mail offered me a refund if I had a postal receipt. Thing is, I didn't send the parcel so I don't have the receipt do I?

And then I read this. Apparently one post office worker had been stealing items for over ten years. I can't even begin to explain how angry that makes me. I don't think it should be acceptable for things to go missing in the post in this day and age. It should be very simple.

Illustration Friday- 'Chair'

As ever it was the first thing that popped into my head. I'm very impulsive when it comes to my image-making. I work on the theory that my first thought is often the strongest idea.

Thinking of Father's Day...

Just an idea I was kicking around with as I tried to think of images for Father's Day. My Dad used to do this with Scalectrix. He'd buy us the track and the cars and spend ages setting it up just so he could play with it. He did the same with the lego except he'd let us play- he'd just keep the best pieces as he was making a spaceship or moonbuggy. Nowadays he doesn't have us as an excuse so he buys Dinky toys because they are 'collectable'. Awww, bless.
