What I've been up to today...

I'm working on a commission from the nice people at Stòrlann Nàiseanta na Gàidhlig and I've been researching Roman outfits. Oh and I ordered a few bits and pieces for the exhibition- scary stuff!

A little doodle...

How cute is this wee guy? I'm stupidly busy at the moment getting the drawings done for my joint exhibition and keeping up-to-date with work for my lovely clients. I still have time to doodle though!

Rumble in the Jungle...

I've become slightly obsessed with drawing cute zebras recently and today I branched out into other wildlife. And yes I know that technically not all of these animals live in a jungle environment, but they look cute together so there you go.

One month to go!

It's only one month now until the hanging date for my joint exhibition. I'm busy scribbling away to get everything finished and off to the printers in time!

Boo!

Bet your weren't expecting that? I'm back after a little break- I've been posting over at the Storytelling Blog as my exhibition draws alarmingly close. Most of my recent work has been geared towards that, although I've updated my website with some nice new projects- including two from BEAM Education and Scottish Natural Heritage. The zebra above is a little guy I've been playing around with. I'm thinking of calling him Ace. Unless anyone has any better suggestions?

Storytelling Pick & Mix exhibition!

Hello everyone, I've been super busy the last few weeks working on various commissions and starting preparation for my joint exhibition with illustrator Cate James. We're working with the lovely people at the Scottish Storytelling Centre to create an interactive children's exhibit. We'll also be taking part in a session with a storyteller, so if you're in Edinburgh from July- September this year pop along to the Royal Mile and check it out!

I've got sheep on the brain for some reason. These are today's doodles, in amongst the large pile of client briefs I'm working my way through (please keep commissioning me though people!).

Camden Lock Crowd

This is my submission to an AOI exhibition on the theme of London. Camden has a lot of memories for me from my teenage years (it was the only place to buy flares- yes flares!) and a fun day trip on the train. It's worth it for the outside food bit alone!

I was thinking about Darwin and this image popped into my head. I just had to get it down on paper, so here it is!

Darwin and Evolution

A subject close to my heart. This year sees the bicentenary of Darwin's birth and various events and TV programmes are celebrating his life and his work. For me the highlight so far was David Attenborough's 'Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life' on the BBC.

Based on the news headline and one of the childhood games loved by my brother and I. My favourite quote from the Guardian has to be this "The SNP's Westminster leader, Angus Robertson, said: "The UK Ministry of Defence needs to explain how it is possible for a submarine carrying weapons of mass destruction to collide with another submarine carrying weapons of mass destruction in the middle of the world's second-largest ocean."
